OVERVIEW...

With this long wheel base Acura, we focused on designing a vehicle for someone in the luxury market with the need for extra leg room and to impress clients. This vehicle looked at the next few generations of the Acura lineup and what technological advancement the design team would need to have engineered.

USER:  Gen-Y male, international talent agent making $120,000.  Tech Savvy, Needs to transport business clients on a regular basis.  Familiar with the Chinese extended wheelbase luxury

SUCCESS:   The final model was well received, and has become the reference for the next generation of Acura interiors.

KEY POINTS:

Wide Instrument Panel Motif = Luxurious and Spacious Feeling (IP has a wide bar motif to make interior feel open, spacious, and luxurious)

Two Seat Extended Rear Space = Individualized rear comfort and legroom (a longer wheelbase allowed for more legroom, shoulder room and general comfort.  The AC controls in the rear are individualized as well.

Luxury Materials = Premium, luxury feel space (Deep brown hue leather with varying finishes stayed with trends while adding visual interest.  Polished aluminum linework was integrated into textured grain wood to bring material contrast and an exclusive luxury feel, reflective of a pinstriped suit)

3D Interface = Deep Visual Experience (this first iteration of the 3D meter used floating projections and screens that intersected to establish depth and priority.  This static meter was used to express the visual possibilities of projection)

Driver Focused Controls = Reduced clutter and prioritized usability (with the age of smartphones, the need for the passengers to share screens has been minimized.  We took advantage of this and reduced the controls in the center panel and made individualized AC controls priority for all users)

Carbon Fiber Seat Frame = Reduced Seat Bulk and Increased Cabin Space (leveraging Carbon fiber construction we reduced the seat mass.  Also, we reduced the shoulder width of the front seats to increase the scale of the cabin feel
